‘Motif’ is an appreciation of vintage 60’s/ 70’s funk and Soul and leans into the cinematic scores of the time also. Filled with lots of flavour and tons of vibe, this collection of music leaves space for interpretation but grabs your attention immediately. Brought to you by
Ziggy Funk and The Purple Notez, many of the records were imagined movie scenes and the music written for that particular scenario. Now what these scenes are, we’ll leave it totally for to you dissect. This will be difficult, given the titles of the songs are strange to say the least, ‘Fish Fillet’ being one of them. Needless to say the grooves on the records are undeniable and the majesty of the horns which take more centre stage, give you a sense of familiarity and locks you in. An ode to the past but keeping in present, with so many elements to enjoy we hope this is a project you can get into.
